138 You Have Treated Me Generously

"Saul then said to David, 'You are in the right rather than I. You have treated me generously while I have done you harm.'"
Welcome back to Scripture for Your Inner Outcasts. Today is January 23rd, 2026, Friday of the Second Week in Ordinary Time. Today we are joined by Pam Malinoski, the integrator for Souls and Hearts.
This verse is taken from today's first reading, where we hear the story of David having the opportunity to kill King Saul in the cave. We see David having mercy on Saul, and when Saul realizes this, he tells David, "You are in the right rather than I. You have treated me generously while I have done you harm." Sometimes I think that you exiles would like to hear a similar message. You often do the generous thing, shouldering so many burdens like shame, anger, fear, worry, and grief. Yet the protectors in our systems, because of their narrow vision and specific agendas, cannot see that all the time. Instead, they try to hide you away, tucking you out of consciousness because they are trying to get through daily life and the daily things that they need to cope with. Do you feel stuck always trying to do the right thing, always having a good intention that doesn't seem to get noticed or appreciated? To get out of that cycle takes trust within your entire system. When the innermost self reaches out to you, and if you feel that it's safe and good to do so, you might want to start to share your story. In sharing your burdens and where they came from originally, you might find that the innermost self can and will recognize and appreciate all that you've done in the past, as well as how to face the future, taking on a more positive role within the entire system.
