"As they were leaving the boat, people immediately recognized him. They scurried about the surrounding country and began to bring in the sick on mats to wherever they heard he was."

Welcome back to Scripture for Your Inner Outcasts. It's February 9th, 2026, Monday of the Fifth Week in Ordinary Time. Today we are joined by Bridget Adams, the member care coordinator for the Resilient Catholics Community, a lead writer and trainer on the PartsFinder Pro team and a retreat leader for Souls and Hearts.

Mark 6:54 and 55. "As they were leaving the boat, people immediately recognized him. They scurried about the surrounding country and began to bring in the sick on mats to wherever they heard he was." Things are really amping up here for the apostles in the wee hours of the night. They'd had a tough go of it, as the wind was against them in the middle of the lake, and shortly before dawn Jesus had walked on the water to join them in the boat. I can imagine that the manager parts of the apostles might have preferred a little quiet time with Jesus when they had landed and tied up the boat. But divine providence had other plans, and after disembarking, people immediately recognized Jesus. And then the scurrying starts. I have a sense that if I were one of the apostles, my manager parts would have been rolling their eyes at all the craziness and the urgency to draw close to Jesus. Watching the crowds gather after being recognized immediately upon landing might have been upsetting for my parts that would have wanted order and perhaps some privacy after such a chaotic night on the lake. But I also have little parts that want to join in the scurrying and hurrying to be close to Jesus.

Parts that aren't able to contain their innocent, urgent desire to be near him and to be healed in his presence. How about you? Do you have little parts that would want to be scurrying or brought to wherever Jesus is? Do you recognize parts like this within your system, your exiled parts, young parts that would be open to this delightful, childlike racing about to be close to Jesus? To you exiled parts, I extend this guarantee. Jesus delights in your scurrying and in your childlike haste to draw close to him. This is very pleasing to him, and he doesn't mind being recognized, being followed, or being sought after. His delight is to be with you little ones. Can you take a moment to just pause and imagine being there with Jesus and recognizing the perfect love of God in your presence? And if you prefer to stand off at a distance, if that feels safer, that's okay too. If you want Jesus to take you walking on the water, just ask him. He loves to play with little ones like you.
