Welcome back to Scripture for Your Inner Outcasts. Today is February 20th, 2026, the Friday After Ash Wednesday. Today's guest is Lisa Barrett, a psychotherapist in private practice based in Sydney, Australia, and a member of Souls and Hearts' Resilient Catholics Community and the Formation for Formators Community.
"Seek good and not evil so that you may live and the Lord will be with you." Amos 5:14. "Then you shall call, and the Lord will answer. You shall cry for help, and he will cry, Here I am." Isaiah 58. If it feels safe to your managers, I would like to speak directly to your exiles. Now, in this passage, God is telling you that he knows that you are seeking good, and he is also telling you that the reason that this is important is because this is life. This is really living. And this is also where you are not alone, where he is with you. Part of this journey of living is this process of continually seeking God, every week, every day, every hour, every moment. And as you do this, the Lord is with you. You are alive. That you are seeking is enough. He invites you to let go of the idea that you need to do, or to do more, to live, to deserve good things, even if that is what other parts are telling you. Maybe you have come to believe that who you are and your seeking of God is insufficient or not enough. Maybe this belief causes you pain. You're also reminded in Isaiah 58, "then you shall call, and the Lord will answer. You shall cry for help, and he will cry, Here I am." He is waiting for your call. He is waiting to answer. He is telling you, you exiled paths, here I am. Can you hear him answering your call? He is listening out for your cry of help to him today.
