Scripture for Your Inner Outcasts

"There is something greater than Solomon here. There is something greater than Jonah here."

Welcome to Scripture for Your Inner Outcasts. It's February 25th, 2026, Wednesday of the First Week of Lent. Today we are joined by Bridget Adams, the member care coordinator for the Resilient Catholics Community, a lead writer and trainer on the PartsFinder Pro team and a retreat leader for Souls and Hearts.

"There is something greater than Solomon here. There is something greater than Jonah here." Luke 11:31 and Luke 11:32. When Jesus spoke these words to the people gathered in the crowd, he was referring to himself, God made man, born of a woman, to redeem all of mankind. And these words of our Savior can also be taken inside to our hearts. The truth is, many of our parts are seeking to be like someone else, or to become some image of a person that isn't really authentic to us, to who we really are. It's not intentionally inauthentic. Rather, it's a strategy used by our parts for gaining acceptance, love, and belonging, a way to meet attachment and integrity needs which have been neglected or lacking in our primary relationships. And in the process, some of our parts are exiled, not allowed in the shop window, so to speak, not allowed to have speaking parts, not even really able to be an extra on the set of life. And so to you parts that have been ignored, suppressed, exiled or forgotten, I share these words of Jesus, with all due respect for the original meaning and context, but offered as a sign of hope for you today. There is something greater than Solomon in your self system. There is something greater than Jonah in your self system. For your self system has your innermost self. And this is really great news and an important reminder. There is only one of you. You exiled parts are unique, precious, and beloved. And there's only one of you. The innermost self with all the parts in your self system, and this is a treasure for the whole world. You, you are a treasure greater than Solomon or Jonah, and worthy of being fully alive and authentic. Praise God for your innermost self and for all of your parts, and may you be more and more integrated and able to shine your unique light.
