"But Zion said, 'The LORD has forsaken me; my Lord has forgotten me.' Can a mother forget her infant, be without tenderness for the child of her womb? Even should she forget, I will never forget you."

You are listening to Scripture for Your Inner Outcasts. Today is March 18th, 2026, Wednesday of the Fourth Week of Lent. Today we are joined by Bridget Adams, the member care coordinator for the Resilient Catholics Community, a lead writer and trainer on the PartsFinder Pro team and a retreat leader for Souls and Hearts.

Isaiah 49, verses 14 and 15. "But Zion said, 'The LORD has forsaken me; my Lord has forgotten me.' Can a mother forget her infant, be without tenderness for the child of her womb? Even should she forget, I will never forget you." Zion's voice, Zion's concern speaks for God's people in exile, fearing absolute abandonment and sensing that they are forgotten, despised, and alone. God answers Zion in the form of a question. Can a mother forget her infant, be without tenderness for the child of her womb? And then God offers a gentle truth about our earthly mothers. Even should she forget. Could she forget? Did she forget? Was I forgotten or abandoned by my earthly mother? Some of our parts may be very protective of our earthly mothers, not allowing any criticism of her or anger directed toward her, which makes sense. Yet you exiled parts might hear God's question posed to you. Could your mother forget you? Could your mother be without tenderness for you? The child in her womb or from her womb? And should you choose to answer God, God is listening without condemnation or harsh criticism as you exiled parts share your experiences with him. God will listen to your story of feeling abandoned, and he will listen to your story of feeling forgotten. And God will respond with perfect love as he says, I will never forget you. And your inmost self can also be a source of non-judgmental listening when the time is right for you exiled parts to share any of your feelings of abandonment or sense of being forgotten, whether by your earthly mother or by some other attachment figure in your life. There's so much hope for you exiled parts when your truth is heard and met with compassion and connection.
