205 You Exiles Will Be Gathered Back to Him

"Though I thought I had toiled in vain, and for nothing, uselessly, spent my strength, Yet my reward is with the LORD, my recompense is with my God. For now the LORD has spoken who formed me as his servant from the womb, That Jacob may be brought back to him and Israel gathered to him; And I am made glorious in the sight of the LORD, and my God is now my strength!"

"Though I thought I had toiled in vain, and for nothing, uselessly, spent my strength, Yet my reward is with the LORD, my recompense is with my God. For now the LORD has spoken who formed me as his servant from the womb, That Jacob may be brought back to him and Israel gathered to him; And I am made glorious in the sight of the LORD, and my God is now my strength!" I can sure relate to a feeling of having toiled in vain, at having spent my strength uselessly. As the holy season of Lent gives way to Holy Week and the Triduum leads to Easter, I have some parts that take great comfort in this scripture passage from our first reading today. And with our protectors' permission, we can love our exiled parts today. We can say to our exiles, the Lord formed all of me in the womb of my mother. We were never meant to be hidden from one another or banished from our innermost self protector parts. Who did that meant well and they work hard trying to keep you safe. God's desire is that you exiled parts be brought back into relationship with the innermost self, and with the protector parts and with him. As Jacob was brought back and Israel gathered to the Lord, so can you exiled parts be brought into loving communion in your self system, becoming glorious in the sight of the Lord with safety and security. You also will have much deeper access to the strength of God. The greatest strength of God is his perfect love and that love is possible for you exiled parts. When your burdens are lightened or lifted, you will be a light to the nations and your love will ripple out, reaching the ends of the earth.
