237 Exiles as Gentiles

Speaker 1: For so the Lord has commanded us, I have made you a light to the Gentiles, that you may be an instrument of salvation to the ends of the earth. The Gentiles were delighted when they heard this and glorified the word of the Lord.
Speaker 2: Welcome back to Scripture for your inner outcasts. Today is May 2nd, 2026, the memorial of Saint Athanasius. Today's guest is Lisa Barrett, a psychotherapist in private practice based in Sydney, Australia, and a member of Souls and Hearts Resilient Catholics community and the formation for Formators community.
Speaker 1: For. So the Lord has commanded us. I have made you a light to the Gentiles, that you may be an instrument of salvation to the ends of the earth. The Gentiles were delighted when they heard this and glorified the word of the Lord. The word of the Lord given here by Paul and Barnabas is today given to you who feel like outsiders. Jesus has made particular mention of you, even though you may be exiled to the ends of the earth. You who have not been included, not considered or not counted among the chosen. Now who God has commanded be sought out so that he can shed his light upon you, and so that you can feel the delight of being the recipient of his Word. You too can delight as even though you are rejected, surrounded by people and parts of you who dismiss or mock you, your deep loneliness allows you to see what others cannot. To receive what they don't his word, light, love, and salvation. The large power and treasure of his message is yours. The lack of acknowledgment and understanding that you have been missing and longing for is available to you, and you are welcomed. You are invited to listen and receive and share God's Word and His love. The acceptance and belonging that is not normally extended to you is now being offered. God has declared that you be invited in, included, and welcomed. He sees and knows your value, your worth, and he treats you with importance, dignity, and compassion.
