Speaker 1: Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest.

Speaker 2: Welcome, everybody, to Scripture for your inner outcasts. Today is July 16th, 2026, Thursday of the 15th week in Ordinary Time. Today's guest presenter is Pam Malinowski, the integrator of Souls and Hearts.

Speaker 1: A verse from today's gospel is from Matthew chapter 11, verse 28. Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. We hear this verse. Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. Frequently during mass, in spiritual talks or discussions and at parish missions. But today I want to look at the word burdens in a bit of a different light. The word burdens means something very specific in internal family systems, and it's something that's very important for you to understand. All of us have painful beliefs, emotions, and memories because of past experiences, trauma or difficult relationships. These may have come from a broken home, a difficult school experience, or an abusive situation. In our fallen world, these burdens are inevitable. All of us experience them at varying levels and degrees. Yet it's very important to realize that those burdens are not inherent to who you are. You are greater than the burdens you carry. Through the healing process, we may be able to release those burdens and find that rest, that peace that always comes from God that today's verse promises us. As Christians, we often find ways to lighten one another's loads by our corporal and spiritual works of mercy. Our managers and protectors are very good at that, especially those self-sacrificing and parts of us that are focused on service. We bring a meal to a friend, visit the elderly, contribute at charities. But today we take that perspective inside. For you exiles, those burdens are often too heavy to carry all by yourself. You do such a heroic job of trying to bear all of those burdens for us. If it feels right and good, know that as you begin to develop a more trusting relationship with your innermost self, who exhibits recollection, calm, and compassion, you can not only experience greater interior integration, but you will be able to share and eventually find relief from those burdens.

Speaker 2: The concepts of receiving burdens and then releasing those burdens through unburdening are central tenets of an internal family system. Modality of psychology. If you're curious on what we mean by the word unburdening, I'd recommend you check out our sister podcast, which is called Interior Integration for Catholics in particular, episode 115, which you will find linked in the description of today's show.

Speaker 1: Let us end with our invocations. Our Lady Untier of knots. Pray for us. Saint John the Baptist. Pray for us. Saint Joseph, pray for us.
