Speaker 1: But blessed are your eyes, because they see in your ears because they hear. Amen, I say to you, many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see, but did not see it. And to hear what you hear but did not hear it.

Speaker 2: You are listening to Scripture for your inner outcasts. Today is July 23rd, 2026, Thursday of the 16th Week in Ordinary Time. Today we're joined by Pam Malinoski, the integrator for Souls and Hearts.

Speaker 1: Matthew chapter 13 verse 14 to 17. Isaiah's prophecy is fulfilled in them, which says, you shall indeed hear, but not understand. You shall indeed look, but never see. Gross is the heart of this people that will hardly hear with their ears. They have closed their eyes, lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their hearts, and be converted, and I heal them. But blessed are your eyes, because they see in your ears because they hear. Amen, I say to you, many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it. When I reflect on the passage from today's gospel, I think about the transformation that my exiles are beginning to make. Before I began my human formation work nearly five years ago, my abandoned part and my fearful part were heavily exiled in my system. They could not see with their eyes or hear with their ears, so to speak, because they were stuck in their very small world, carrying their heavy burdens. I was blessed with parents who took care of me, but because of their own wounds, were not always emotionally attuned to me. I was very shy as a child, and being Chinese fell victim to a lot of schoolyard teasing as a child. I learned to withdraw, to try to be invisible, to be quiet at a young age.

Speaker 1: Later, I began excelling at school, and my protectors learned that I was valued for being a good student. They sort of locked away my abandoned and fearful part, both to protect them from further harm, but also to keep them from ruining an external image I was trying to uphold. The problem was that my exiles still held on to those burdens, those fears of abandonment, of being unloved. And when I experienced conflict with those I loved. I often overreacted because of those burdens. I simply was not seeing clearly what I found over the last several years. Using internal family systems is that it helps those exiles see and hear more clearly my abandonment. Fearful parts are loved dearly by God, but they couldn't see him for a long time. Now they have shared their stories with my innermost self who understands how they got their burdens. My innermost self has worked to care for these young, exiled parts of myself, not only loving them as I love my own children, but also connecting them to the love of God more fully. I still have work to do, but I know that I'm not nearly as reactive now. When I face conflict with my husband, children, or friends because I have a better understanding of what's happening within.
