367 You Are the Child of A King

Speaker 1: Listen to me, daughter. See and bend your ear. All glorious is the king's daughter. As she enters, her raiment is threaded with spun gold. You are listening to Scripture for your inner outcasts. Today is a. Wednesday, September 9th, 2026, the Memorial of Saint Peter Claver. I'll be providing today's episode. I'm Elizabeth and I'm the producer of this show. Today, I'd like to focus in on the Responsorial Psalm, which comes from Psalm 45. Listen to me, daughter. See and bend your ear. All glorious is the king's daughter. As she enters, her raiment is threaded with spun gold. In the context of this Psalm, I'd like to share with you guys a little bit about one of my own exiled parts. I call her my princess part. And I've shared about her on this podcast before, but my princess part is exactly as you might imagine. She's probably about five years old and she wants to be a princess like a lot of five year old girls do. And I have this photo of myself when I was around that age wearing a Cinderella costume. And that is in my mind what my princess part looks like. And my princess part just wants to wear jewels. She wants to wear a crown.
Speaker 1: She wants to wear shiny things. She wants to be admired. She wants to feel beautiful. She wants other people to think she's beautiful. And she became exiled at some point, probably while I was in elementary school, just from repeated interactions where she felt like she was not loved, was not admired, was not beautiful, was not lovely. And many of my protectors tried to shield her from the cold, cruel world in which her very innocent desire is not seemingly going to be fulfilled. And so when I look at this Psalm, which speaks about the king's daughter being all glorious, that, of course, just makes me think of my own princess part. And I also think about how I believe that each of our parts is oriented towards heaven in a specific way that's unique from the other parts in our system. Every manner of relationship with God is desirable. And the particular manner of relationship of daughterhood is uniquely lived out and desired by my princess part. And it makes a lot of sense that she wants to be a princess. And I think it makes a lot of sense that pretty much every little girl you meet wants to be a princess.
Speaker 1: It's because while we actually are princesses in the sense that we literally are daughters of a king, I think that's really sweet. How my princess part, and maybe yours, especially the female listeners out there. You probably want to be a princess because you actually are one. But you might not know it. You might not know it in your whole system. But there's an appeal to princess stories because that actually is who you are. You are the daughter of a king before you are the daughter of your earthly parents. And so to any parts who are listening out there that want to be a princess, I'd like to tell you that you already are one. Thanks for joining me in today's episode.
