Speaker 1: Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest, says the Lord.

Speaker 2: Welcome to Scripture for your inner outcasts. Today is September 17th, 2026. Thursday of the 24th Week in Ordinary Time. Today's guest presenter is Doctor Peter Malinoski, clinical psychologist and co-founder of Souls and Hearts, our parent organization.

Speaker 1: Hello. Sfyio listeners, it is so good to be with you. And I just want to focus in today on the Alleluia verse. Matthew 11, verse 28, come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest, says the Lord. It's interesting here because parts can be burdens in really one of two ways. They can either take on a burden that's just very heavy to carry some intense experience. A personal experience, something that was actually experienced that would be a personal burden. It could be a legacy burden, a burden that someone else experienced and passed on. And that's often what our exiles are carrying. But there also can be this burden of an extreme role, an extreme role that a part felt forced to take on because there just didn't seem to be any other option. And in this verse, this alleluia verse, Matthew 11, verse 28, come to me, all you who labor. Okay? So that could be understood on an internal level as parts that are in an extreme role, laboring so hard. And then there's the other part of this. And our burdens. These are the parts carrying the personal burdens, the legacy burdens. And I will give you rest, says the Lord. Come to me. It's interesting because our Lord here, he is the giver of rest, one who relieves the burdens of extreme roles and these personal burdens or legacy burdens.

Speaker 1: Parts don't know that, though. So many times exiles are terrified of our Lord Jesus Christ. Sometimes exiles deeply desire our Lord Jesus Christ, and it's the managers or the firefighters that are terrified or that are angry at Jesus. And that's because they misunderstand who he is. Any part who is not in right relationship with the innermost self will not have an accurate understanding of who Jesus Christ is. Different heretical notions are going to weave their way into the God images of managers, firefighters and exiles who are not in right relationship with the innermost self. Those parts who are not in right relationship with the innermost self will not understand that God in the second person of the Trinity, in our Lord Jesus Christ, is the giver of rest to those who come to him. There is a part that we have to do. We have to come to him, and we have to come to him in the entirety of our being, not just our spiritual managers, not just a few parts on the surface. Our Lord desires that all of us, the entirety of our being, comes to him.
